Logistics Assistant – Heavy‑Truck Convoy Leader (G5)

About the role

The Assistant Logistics will act as the convoy leader for WFP heavy‑truck fleets in Haiti, organizing, planning and supervising the transport of food and non‑food items across the country in accordance with WFP procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and advise heavy‑truck drivers, ensuring compliance with job descriptions and safety standards.
• Manage HF/VHF radio and Thuraya communications, providing hourly convoy updates to the Fleet Manager.
• Make safety decisions during incidents, handle breakdowns, and coordinate rapid, safe vehicle repairs.
• Ensure trucks are mechanically sound, clean, fuelled on time, and loaded within payload limits.
• Oversee accurate completion of vehicle logbooks, cargo documentation, and secure cargo handling from origin to destination.

Required profile

• Secondary education with specialization in automotive mechanics or heavy‑vehicle operation.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience managing heavy‑truck fleets.
• Strong knowledge of Haiti’s road network and ability to plan convoy routes.
• Fluency in French and Haitian Creole; good English and Spanish are assets.
